There are approximately 2,000 children with additional needs in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames alone, the vast majority of whom do not meet the criteria for receiving support from the Local Authority. For many of these families we are often their only source of support. Even for those who do receive some help from the Local Authority for the child with a disability, none is provided for siblings who often feel left out and ignored. We are there for the whole family - the child with additional needs, their siblings and parents - regardless of the nature of the disability, be that temporary or permanent.
As a charity, none of our income is guaranteed and we are entirely dependent on our own fundraising each and every year. Whilst we strive to keep our costs as low as possible, they are in the region of £200,000 per annum and increasing each year due to growing demands for our services.
