Short Breaks Service
Our Short Breaks Service is for families who have a child with additional needs. We introduce a sitter to your family who can come into your home to babysit for all your children while you go out or who can be a companion for your child with additional needs, helping them access the leisure activities they enjoy.
Our sitters Our sitters
We recruit sitters who have an interest in working with children or young people with additional needs and have experience of working with children. When recruiting sitters we:

What we offerFamilies who are members of Three Wings Trust can benefit from the service. The service is available whether you want a sitter from time to time just for special occasions or on a regular basis. There is no minimum frequency or number of hours - and no maximum! We have sitters who can help out during the day and evenings, including weekends.
Babysitting - Our sitters babysit in your own home for your children while you go out or they can provide an extra pair of hands at busy family times. The sitter can help with bedtime, feeding, personal care or they can engage your children in creative and fun activities.
Befriending - Our sitters can be a companion for your child with additional needs and take them out to a leisure activity that they enjoy. This could be swimming, cinema, or just hanging out at the shops. How it worksWhen you join we will ask you a bit more about your child's needs, siblings who would be included in the arrangement and the days and times you have in mind initially.
We tell our sitters a little bit about your family and your sitting requirements (we don't use names). When we have identified a potential sitter (or more than one) we will pass on their details to you. You can then contact the sitter(s) to have a chat and if that goes well you can arrange to meet them prior to the first session, or if you are both happy you can go ahead and arrange a sitting session.
If your first sitting session goes well you can then continue to make sitting arrangements directly with your sitter. You can meet or use more than one sitter as well if this suits your family best.
We are not an agency: we don't charge for finding you a sitter but you will pay an hourly rate for the time you use a sitter. We recommend that sitters are paid a minimum of £7 per hour. There is no extra charge because your child has additional needs.
Our sitters are employed by Three Wings Trust and paid through our payroll system. Instead of paying the sitter at the end of a session you will be asked to sign a timesheet and we will invoice you on a monthly basis.
You can use Direct Payments to pay for your sitter but we can't accept vouchers from other childcare schemes.
